Need ISO 14001 for a tender? We'll get you ready for the certification audit.
An ISO 14001 consultant for UK and Irish suppliers. We build an environmental management system around what your business already does, so it passes the audit and keeps running after it. Fixed fees from £1,950 + VAT.
Why are customers asking for it?
Frameworks in construction, facilities, engineering and the public sector often list ISO 14001 as a minimum, and some score you down without it. It also counts in EcoVadis. Since early 2026, though, EcoVadis no longer accepts certificates marked "in progress", so the certificate has to be issued before you submit.
The standard itself asks for something simple to describe and harder to show: that you know your environmental impacts, you have a plan to manage them, and you check the plan works.
ISO 14001 also gives you much of the evidence EcoVadis looks for under its Environment theme, and if you are a large organisation it sits naturally alongside ESOS.
How it works: from gap analysis to certificate
- ISO 14001 gap analysis. We compare what you already have with the standard and give you a ranked list of what's missing.
- Build the system. Aspects and impacts register, legal register, objectives, procedures and records, written with the people who will use them.
- Internal audit and management review. We run the first internal audit and help your directors hold the first review, so the certification body sees a system that already works.
- Certification audit. A certification body you choose runs Stage 1, a readiness check, then Stage 2, the full audit. We support you through both.
After certification, the body returns for a surveillance audit each year and a recertification audit every three years.
How long does it take?
For a firm of your size, starting from scratch, allow 6 to 12 months to certification. That's a planning estimate: a business with good records and one site can move faster, a multi-site business slower.
Which edition?
ISO 14001:2026 was published on 15 April 2026. According to UKAS, new certifications to the 2015 edition stop by 31 October 2027 and every certified business must move to the new edition by 30 April 2029. We build new systems to the 2026 edition.
Fees
| Service | Fee |
|---|---|
| Gap analysis with a ranked action plan | £1,950 + VAT |
| Full implementation to certification, single site | From £6,500 + VAT |
| Multi-site or combined with ISO 9001 or 45001 | Quoted after a call |
Choosing a certification body
Pick one accredited by UKAS, the only accreditation body recognised by the UK government. Some cheap packages certify through bodies that aren't, and a tender panel may not accept the certificate. You can check any body on the UKAS register. We don't certify, and we take no commission from certification bodies.
Questions suppliers ask
Can we get ISO 14001 and EcoVadis at the same time?
Yes, and it saves work. Much of the environment evidence EcoVadis looks for is what ISO 14001 makes you produce. Just make sure the certificate is issued before you submit to EcoVadis.
How much of our team's time will it take?
Expect a named owner to give a few hours a week, with short sessions from operations, purchasing and HR. Directors need to attend the management review.
Is ISO 14001 a legal requirement?
No. It becomes a requirement when a customer or framework writes it into a tender. Some environmental laws you must follow anyway, and the system helps you show you do.
